Kids Meals - S/LO6

This weekend, I packed 48 lunches for Kids Meals. I first decorated each of the paper bags with colorful and fun designs that I think the children will enjoy. Then, in accordance with Kids Meals guidelines, I packed each bag with a healthy snack, fruit item, sandwich equivalent, and a small juice/water. I specifically gave each bag some trail mix, applesauce, sandwich, and water. Packing such bags always makes me reflect on how lucky I am to have a consistent food source and even the option of choice in what I eat. The children who receive these bags sometimes don't know when their next meal is and they don't have the luxury of food preferences. While Kids Meals is locally based and specifically helps preschool-aged children in Houston, extreme poverty and not being guaranteed meals is an issue of global significance. I hope that by packing these bags whenever I can, I can make some difference for these kids.
